We are proud to be the first team to install an intelligent & integrated EV charger in an Australian school, a project which was successfully delivered following consultation with the school about:
- The best time for them to install EV charging
- Connection of the charging unit to their solar system
- Capture of charging session data for use in the classroom
- Encouraging the entire school community to think about low-emission transport
In addition to installations at schools & educational facilities, the EVUp team is passionate about providing internships at our Melbourne head office, research & development of new products & supporting students in e-mobility challenges.
Our Australian-made electric vehicle AC charging unit, the AURIGA, has been designed with input from graduate interns who helped develop customisations that allow for ebike & smartphone charging.
Case study:
Melbourne’s Beaconhills College installed electric vehicle charging in mid-2019 as a pilot program that aims to future-proof the school’s move to low-emission fleet & staff vehicles. The EV charging unit is powered by their 100kW solar system & is part of a range of sustainability initiatives to take action on climate change.
We see electric vehicles as part of our sustainability program. Our Sustainability Coordinator Jack Donkers explored EV charging options and how we could reduce air pollution around campuses. In addition, wanted to encourage the uptake of EVs, both at the College and in the wider community. The information the AURA generates will be used in the classroom to help students understand the benefits of electric vehicles. It will also help them be more informed when purchasing a car in future.
